Here is my DVD Ripping tool of choice: DVDFab

Here is a quick video showing you how i ripped a just the main movie from a DVD Note: Ripping DVD’s takes a pretty good amount of time to complete.

DVDFab is able rip pretty much any Movie that I throw at it. The Version that I use is their free version. The free version only does 2 things, but it does them well. I can rip the entire DVD extras and all or rip the main movie. That’s it.

Here is why DVDFab is a winner for me:

  • Clean GUI
  • Works right out of the box
  • It’s always being updated (but not too often… that can get annoying)
  • It’s free! They do have a pay version that I also recommend if you want a all in one deal that rips and converts to your favorite formats such as iPod or Xvid among others.

Once you have ripped your DVD, you’re going to want to do something with it. Below are just some of the things you may want to do.

Play ripped DVD on your computer

Get VLC media player from the web. Install it. Once you have it installed, navigate to the folder that your ripped DVD is in. Right click it and choose “ Play with VLC media player”. The movie should start playing.

Burn ripped DVD to a blank DVD [Plays on most any DVD player] blog post and video coming soon

Get DVD Shrink. This program will back up your ripped DVD to a blank DVD. It will also compress your ripped DVD if it’s too big to fit on your blank DVD.
