There is a FREE service out there on the tubes (internet) that lets you ask (TXT) any question that can be answered by Google. In just a few minutes you get a TXT with answer. This pretty cool service is called Mosio.

Here is how it works:

You TXT a question from your cell phone, that question gets posted on the Mosio site, then real people do the research and txt you back the answer. This service works great in a pinch. I don’t have any fancy iPhone or BlackBerry so this kind of service works very well for the one off questions that you just got to know.You really can ask anything.

Ex:

Who won the Angles game today?

Who was the 21st president of the US?

Who is better…Pirates or Ninjas?

How many quarts in a gallon?

About two years ago joined a men’s bible study called: Men’s Fraternity. During this study we were asked to find a mentor, somebody to pour into us wisdom and knowledge. At the time I was not ready to make such a move. I guess I was just too afraid of what that mentor will ask me to do or not do anymore. In a nutshell im tired of seeing my self as a boy. I want to become something that is worth looking up to for my son/daughter and a husband worth keeping. I want my son to want to be like me, I want my daughter to see how a man treats a woman, and I want to lead my wife into our future with a strong marriage unshaken by life’s potholes.

Fast forward to this past Wednesday. I finally got up the nerve to ask somebody to be my mentor. He is a 50-year husband and father of two girls. His name is Tom and he has agreed to be my mentor.

I believe that I have taken the first steps to improving my life and providing a better future for my family and I.

I would encourage you to find a mentor. im sure we can all benefit from it.

I came into some extra money (birthday money) a while ago and I thought it would be best spent on some “good” headphones.

So off I went to find a pair of sweet headphones. I bought several different of pair of headphones costing over 50 bucks. (I know headphones only costing about $50 bucks aren’t “good” headphones, but I’m no audiophile) All that I wanted to do is replace my $0.50 RCA headphones that I’ve had for the past 2 years.Here is what I found… most headphones that cost around $50 buck sound like they should be priced at $10 bucks at the most. There are some exceptions, but truly my $0.50 cent RCA sound just as good as some of the other stuff that I bought for $40-$50 bucks.

I did manage to find some decent Sennheiser headphones that sounded pretty good and that I was quite happy with. I paid like $45 bucks on sale at bestbuy. The only thing that I didn’t like about them was they were the “over the ear” style, too big for my liking at the office. I took them back to bestbuy.  On the way out…I saw the JVC Flats. They were only $20 bucks. So I thought I would give them a spin thinking I’m just going to come back to return them too.

As it turns out they were the best headphones that I have tried on since i stated looking. They sound just as good as the Sennheiser’s  and they were the “on the ear” style  just the style I was looking for. Ive been using these for the past few months and they rock my socks! The sound is really good and rich at low volumes and just sound “right”. I have recommended them to two of my coworkers and they are happy with then as well.

Best part: Amazon has these puppies for only $11 bucks + shipping. I know that’s cheap… but don’t let that price fool you. They really do sound good and better than most headphones costing way more.

So there you go. Go buy the JVC Flats,  you will be happy you did.

So I lost 20 pounds in these past 6 weeks. Some of you may remember that I lost a bunch of weight about 2 years ago but I managed to put it back on (nothing new there). This time its different (promise), a few fatties (me included) at work are doing a biggest loser style contest. So there is $240 bucks up for grabs and I believe my self to be in 2nd place. =( I still have about 2 weeks left and I want to drop about 10 more pounds to either win or just barley lose.

Once this contest ends, a buddy of mine and I are going to enter in a similar bet where we keep the weight off  loser pays up $100 bucks!

My goal is weigh about 170 – 185 pounds (right around “high school weight”), just thought I would share.

In case anybody is interested, I am currently on the South Beach Diet (lame name, but it works… at least for me.)

As many of you know (maybe not so many), I love me some Woot.com. Most every single day ill be on woot.com or sellout.woot.com or shirt.woot.com (where 90% of my t-shirts are from) @10pm (pacific time). The reason…. I just like getting a good deal. Anyhow it has come to my attention that woot.com has created another woot spin off site: kids.woot.com. Now I get to spend more money buying stuff that I really “need”. Anyhow I just thought I would share the news with you.

It would be too cool if you let me know in the comments what you use and recommend. Its always nice to see what others using to get the job done.

First up: DVD Ripping, What awesome software does the job easily

The above rant about Disby has been featured on the front page of Digg.com. Now the rest of the internet is going to catch wind of Disby’s questionable practices and one way or the other this is going to hurt business in some small or big way.

In short the rant calls for its users to uninstall Digsby because:

• It try’s install six pieces of crap-ware (software that you don’t need or want on your computer)
• In its TOS it says the following:

15. USAGE OF COMPUTER RESOURCES.
You agree to permit the Software to use the processing power of your computer when it is idle to run downloaded algorithms (mathematical equations) and code within a process. You understand that when the Software uses your computer, it likewise uses your CPU, bandwidth, and electrical power. The Software will use your computer to solve distributed computing problems, such as but not limited to, accelerating medical research projects, analyzing the stock market, searching the web, and finding the largest known prime number. This functionality is completely optional and you may disable it at any time.

LifeHacker’s opinion on the matter that i agree with:

Hold everything! They are going to use my computer for “searching the web” without explicitly asking for my permission? What exactly are they indexing, and how do I know they aren’t accessing something illegal with my computer? Why are they trying to hide this in the first place?

So there you go. Uninstall if you agree or at the very least be aware of what you have agreed to. Here are instructions to disable the zombie takeover of you computer: open up Disby, click on [Help] then [Support Digsby]. there should be some menu item to disable the nonsense. Good luck.

You don’t need to be a member of Sam’s Club or Costo to buy alcohol or use their pharmacy. All that needs to be done is let the person at the front of the store know what you are doing, go get your stuff and bring them to the register.

I tried this last night as the Sams Club in Ontario, CA. i was told to bring my purchase to the membership counter because the regular registers were setup to only make transactions with a membership card. I know there some is state law that says that you can do this so you may want to call before you show up to your local non California Sam’s or Costco
