The Googles has me. Today I did a Google search on my name and the top 4 results are all me. Its kinda scary. I know I have somewhat of a unique name… but still.

The good news is that all the information that the Googles has on me is all information that I can change or control in some way. I guess this a good thing  that I have taken “control” of my online identity. But I really don’t know…. I’m just saying stuff.

A few Saturdays ago  (5/1/2010) was Free Comic Book Day. It’s a day when all the participating comic book shops across the nation give out free comic books to anybody thats willing to come down and get them. Free Comic Book Day is the first Saturday in May.

This is the first time the kids and I have ever been to a Free Comic Book Day. This fine event took place at my local comic book shop (four color fantasies). They had comic book characters walking around taking pictures with everybody, comic book artists and inkers signing things and giving away free on the spot drawings of pretty much anything you wanted, Free hot dogs, nachos, free face painting, and a bounce house.

Zach and Syd got to spend some time in the bounce house, then they got their faces panted. Zach went with spiderman. Syd got a butterfly (what else would she get?). The kids also got free movie posters 5 comic books each and other nick nacks.

Lastly I had one of the artists sketch out Zach and Syd (see the images above). He charged just 5 bucks each.

All in all it was a wonderful time and it only cost me 10 bucks that i didn’t need to spend. If you have kids I would encourage you to take  your kids out next May for the awesome Free Comic Book Day!

Kinda Crappy, But no matter what still worth my 8 bucks.

Here is a question for the dudes and maybe even the dudettes (you never know)

When you relieve you selves at a urinal… how do you aim to minimize the sprinkles?

Why this question is being asked:

I have been using urinals since I was in kindergarten and nobody ever told me of a magic way to use these urinals without getting any sprinkles on your pants, shirt, or shoes.

Now I’m taking a big risk right here. I just admitted that I can’t control my stream enough to not get any sprinkles back on me. so I want to assume that you have the very same problem and you are not saying anything about to keep yourself feeling cool…like you are in control of the sprinkles and they don’t ever hit you….ever! Don’t lie!

Just tell me the secret way that you use to minimize the sprinkles.

The good thing about it was that Zach seemed to like it quite a bit even though he had to fumble around to do what the other kids were doing. I have always been uneasy with “play fighting” with Zach. I don’t want him to “play fight” with the other kids at school or church and hurt somebody unintentionally.

Now that he is in MMA, I want to make sure Zach only uses his new powers for good and not evil!

Last week was the final weigh in and I came in 3rd place. I lost a total of 25 pounds and 9.9% of my total body weight in 8 weeks. Mark ended up losing 28 pounds and 11.2% of total body weight. So he was the biggest loser! Congratulations!

As it turns out I’m in for another 2 months of weight loss madness! This time around I’m actually doing some “workin out” (more on that later!)

About two years ago joined a men’s bible study called: Men’s Fraternity. During this study we were asked to find a mentor, somebody to pour into us wisdom and knowledge. At the time I was not ready to make such a move. I guess I was just too afraid of what that mentor will ask me to do or not do anymore. In a nutshell im tired of seeing my self as a boy. I want to become something that is worth looking up to for my son/daughter and a husband worth keeping. I want my son to want to be like me, I want my daughter to see how a man treats a woman, and I want to lead my wife into our future with a strong marriage unshaken by life’s potholes.

Fast forward to this past Wednesday. I finally got up the nerve to ask somebody to be my mentor. He is a 50-year husband and father of two girls. His name is Tom and he has agreed to be my mentor.

I believe that I have taken the first steps to improving my life and providing a better future for my family and I.

I would encourage you to find a mentor. im sure we can all benefit from it.

I’ll keep this blog updated on the progress that I make or don’t make.

These two time lapse videos are pretty shocking.

No really… I found this picture of Jesus in the gutter today after lunch at Tacos Baja (99 cent taco Wednesday). The Picture was curled up and the image was unrecognizable until I held it up the correct way. It’s kinda odd that I found this picture just lying there. Anyway I ended up bringing it back to the office cause its kinda artsy. Now it hangs on my cube wall.

Last night Zach wanted me to help find some “kids shows” on TV before he went to bed. I started to flip through some channels and I ended up going around the horn a few times when I stopped on some Korean TV show (I was just trying to be funny). I was expecting him to say “DaaAAD, come on!” but he didn’t.

“So you really want to watch this?” I asked.
“Yeah, I like Chinese warriors!” He said.

We continued to watch this  TV show for about 30 minutes. I ended up reading the English subtitles to him until one point there were some type of news ticker at the bottom that blocked the English subtitles. I proceeded to make up what they were saying….i had a bit of fun =). I don’t even think he noticed a difference, but none the less he seemed to really enjoy it.

Zach asked “Dad, to all Chinese Priest’s wear a chair with wings on it?”

I looked and sure enough that priest guy had on some funny hat that looked like a chair with wings on it. It’s so cool to get a glimpse of how a 5 year old sees things vs. how we see things. Their way is way more fun.

Finally, when we told it him it was time for bed he made that “Auhhh” sound.

I came into some extra money (birthday money) a while ago and I thought it would be best spent on some “good” headphones.

So off I went to find a pair of sweet headphones. I bought several different of pair of headphones costing over 50 bucks. (I know headphones only costing about $50 bucks aren’t “good” headphones, but I’m no audiophile) All that I wanted to do is replace my $0.50 RCA headphones that I’ve had for the past 2 years.Here is what I found… most headphones that cost around $50 buck sound like they should be priced at $10 bucks at the most. There are some exceptions, but truly my $0.50 cent RCA sound just as good as some of the other stuff that I bought for $40-$50 bucks.

I did manage to find some decent Sennheiser headphones that sounded pretty good and that I was quite happy with. I paid like $45 bucks on sale at bestbuy. The only thing that I didn’t like about them was they were the “over the ear” style, too big for my liking at the office. I took them back to bestbuy.  On the way out…I saw the JVC Flats. They were only $20 bucks. So I thought I would give them a spin thinking I’m just going to come back to return them too.

As it turns out they were the best headphones that I have tried on since i stated looking. They sound just as good as the Sennheiser’s  and they were the “on the ear” style  just the style I was looking for. Ive been using these for the past few months and they rock my socks! The sound is really good and rich at low volumes and just sound “right”. I have recommended them to two of my coworkers and they are happy with then as well.

Best part: Amazon has these puppies for only $11 bucks + shipping. I know that’s cheap… but don’t let that price fool you. They really do sound good and better than most headphones costing way more.

So there you go. Go buy the JVC Flats,  you will be happy you did.

So I lost 20 pounds in these past 6 weeks. Some of you may remember that I lost a bunch of weight about 2 years ago but I managed to put it back on (nothing new there). This time its different (promise), a few fatties (me included) at work are doing a biggest loser style contest. So there is $240 bucks up for grabs and I believe my self to be in 2nd place. =( I still have about 2 weeks left and I want to drop about 10 more pounds to either win or just barley lose.

Once this contest ends, a buddy of mine and I are going to enter in a similar bet where we keep the weight off  loser pays up $100 bucks!

My goal is weigh about 170 – 185 pounds (right around “high school weight”), just thought I would share.

In case anybody is interested, I am currently on the South Beach Diet (lame name, but it works… at least for me.)

August 13, 2009 Update: Turns out Lumpy is a girl. that is all

for the last three years kelly and i have had two very small cars. after a while you get kinda tired of filling up the car with the family and having no real space to do anything fun with any kind of ease. Enter the 03 Ford Expedition. our new (to us) family car. a few weeks ago we traded in our Toyota Corolla in exchange for the SUV. we got a decent deal on it from our local car dealership. it came with a few after market things like 20″ wheels and tires, aluminum-ish grill, and some kind of muffler that make is sound beefier. we love all the extra space that it provides and all the potential that it has. i now see some camping in our future (fun). One cool thing that we really enjoy in our new car is going to the drive-in movie theater and parking reverse and having the kids sit in the back with the rear door up.

i know that we have only had for a few short weeks but i really like this car and i am recommending it already. here’s why:

• its big
• the ride is pretty smooth
• plenty of room for 8 adults
• Fords in general have good reliability (especially in the last 10 years)
• Fords have crap resale value! so that means more bang for your buck. (i guess is kinda a negative if you buy the car new. but if you buy the car used then its GAME ON!)
